Corona virus: FIR against Kanika Kapoor under Section 269 of the IPC
FIR against Kanika Kapoor is lodged under Section 269 of the IPC after she was tested positive for COVID-19 and attended parties in Lucknow
It was a dramatic day for people of Lucknow today. Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced about ‘Janta Curfew’ wherein Lucknowites knew its time to be extra cautious but India and Bollywood were shocked to hear about Kanika Kapoor’s Instagram post. She is an NRI, born in Lucknow who did her schooling from Loreto Convent Lucknow. After her marriage to Raj Chandok, she went to London, but later came back and started her carrier in Bollywood with “Baby Doll” for the film Ragini MMS 2, which was a huge success. The news is an FIR against Kanika Kapoor would be lodged soon under Section 269 of the IPC which states “Negligently doing any act known to be likely to spread infection of any disease dangerous to life”.
Why authorities had to lodge FIR against Kanika Kapoor?
Kanika Kapoor, in an Instagram post, revealed that she has been tested positive for COVID-19.

Soon after this post, it came to notice that she is a celebrity and a singer, attended many parties during her stay in Lucknow. These included parties at Justice (retd) Sanjay Mishra’s place, Former MP Akbar Ahmad Dumpy’s place along with her apartment in Mahanagar’s Gallant Apartment, where she developed signs of corona first. It is said that she also stayed in the Taj Hotel of Lucknow and she attended many parties of Holi celebrations in Lucknow. Hence, section Section 269 of the IPC comes into play. It is said that she knowingly hide her travel details from authorities and did not take precautions in spite of knowing the corona Saftey Protocol.

It is to be noted that today Lucknow District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash also ordered to shut down areas near Mahanagar such as Kapporthala, Aliganj, Vikas Nagar, Kalyanpur, Kukrail, etc.

Lucknow Airport’s role
As per some reports, it was said that she escaped some medical screening from Lucknow airport, to which Lucknow airport responded that since there are no direct flights from London, Mumbai airport should have done the procedural checks. While Kanika said that symptoms developed only 4 days ago and she felt all right during her regular checkups at airports.
