Russian Language Day is observed each year on June 6. The United Nations started this day in 2010. The day marks the birthday of Aleksandr (Alexander) Pushkin, a Russian poet who is viewed as the father of current Russian Literature. On Russian Language Day 2020, know more about it.

About Pushkin

Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin was a Russian artist, dramatist, and writer of the Romantic period. He is considered to be the best Russian artist and the author of modern Russian literature.

In the year 1831, during the time of Pushkin’s developing literature, he met one of Russia’s other incredible early writer, Nikolai Gogol. After reading Gogol’s 1831–1832 volume of short stories Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka, Pushkin supported him. He includes a portion of Gogol’s most celebrated short stories in the magazine The Contemporary, which he established in 1836.
